The Road Back: Once Homeless, Mike Lowery Found Purpose at Taylor Made

Stable Recovery, a rehab program in Lexington, Kentucky, offers men recovering from addiction a therapeutic community and vocational training in the Thoroughbred industry. Residents attend 12-step meetings and learn horsemanship at Taylor Made Farm’s School of Horsemanship. Over 100 men have completed the program, with many pursuing equine careers. The program, seeking expansion, partners with notable farms and organizations. TDN’s series, ‘The Road Back,’ profiles graduates, starting with Mike Lowery, who transformed from a newcomer to horses to a divisional manager at Taylor Made Farm.

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form, and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB) will honor Frank Taylor and the Stable Recovery Program with the Special Eclipse Award for service to the Thoroughbred industry at the Resolute Racing 54th Annual Eclipse Awards Dinner and Ceremony at The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida on Thursday, Jan. 23, according to a press release from the NTRA on Thursday.
