LEXINGTON, Ky. (CBS News) – One Kentucky horse farm rides hard on expectations. You’re up at 5 a.m., ready to work, clean and sober.  Taylor Made Farm offers a drug and alcohol rehab program called Stable Recovery, where you’ll find roughly 50 men recovering from addictions.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — At Spy Coast Farms, which is largely operated by women, both the mares and women battling substance abuse are getting a second chance.  "They know when they wake up in the morning these horses are waiting on them, there's just something about working with horses and people in substance abuse, there's no words," said Katie Silvers, program director for Stable Recovery.

Trainer Will Walden has come a long way in a short period of time. Training only since 2022, through Tuesday, he had 35 wins on the year from 141 starters for a win rate of 25%.

There are many expectations at Stable Recovery, a drug and alcohol rehab program based at Taylor Made Farm, the world's largest seller of thoroughbred horses. Residents are up by 5 a.m., ready to work — and sober. Roughly 50 men are recovering from their addictions at the Kentucky farm, alongside 750 horses that give them structure, help them heal and keep them on track.

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jaron Kohari never thought his path to sobriety would involve horses.  The 1,000-pound animals unnerved him upon his arrival at a farm outside Lexington that teaches horsemanship to addicts, with the prospects of a job and a future if they get clean.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Stable Recovery, a Lexington-based recovery program, now has a women’s horsemanship program at Spy Coast Farm.  The program gives women in recovery the chance to learn from some of the best professionals in the sport horse industry while working to overcome addiction.
